Effective internal communication is essential for maritime vessels to operate safely and efficiently. Whether navigating in calm waters or handling emergencies, the crew should be able to communicate properly and swiftly. For this reason, it is not only critical but also crucial to equip vessels with reliable internal communication systems provided by KDU in association with Zenitel. Here’s the list of essential internal communication equipment for vessels.
ICX-AlphaCom Platform:
ICX-AlphaCom Core software, which runs on the ICX 500, offers the same functional capabilities as the ICX 500 itself. It can now be installed on standard PC hardware, both physical and virtual. Scalable in both functionality and size, the ICX-AlphaCom Platform is designed to be future-proof. The system can be modified to suit applications with almost limitless specificity and complexity. Zenitel’s ICX (Intelligent Communication X) facilitates the implementation of Voice over IP to ensure reliable communication during critical situations. The ICX-AlphaCom Core is designed to provide critical communication in any environment. It can accommodate up to 552 IP stations and provides global networking and easy integration. Fully compatible with the legacy AlphaCom system, the platform also offers high-quality, professional PA broadcasting and messaging services, along with features like security voice guidance for public safety and building security. Other functionalities include an auto-attendant system (automatic voice-supported switchboard) and voice-supported call guidance.
ACM AlphaCom for Maritime:
The Vingtor-Stentofon ACM AlphaCom system provides reliable onboard communication, which improves vessel safety. Built around the AlphaCom XE intercom exchange, it offers proven two-way communication, talk-back, hands-free voice calls, public address (PA), and general alarm (GA) functionalities. For clear communication, the system incorporates 1-bit audio technology (20 kHz). Its flexible and modular designs support a range of vessel types and incorporate digital, analog, IP, and wireless handsets as well as IP DECT. The three main system packages are ACM Advanced Integrated System, ACM Integrated Communication with PA/GA, and ACM Analog Telephone System. It enables remote services via IP and web technologies and has redundant power inputs with automatic AC/DC switching.
ICS 6200 Communication System:
ICS 6200 Communication System, designed for both internal and external communication on vessels, offshore platforms, and between onshore operation centers, the Phontech P-6200 Central Unit is a versatile digital communication system. It can support up to 24 analog or digital lines, as well as 48 VoIP registrations, and has two 100 Mbit Ethernet ports for reliable connectivity. The PBX features of the system, such as group calls, paging, and alert groups, enhance communication efficiency. SIP/RTP protocols are used by the system, which also supports VoIP or FXO trunk lines. It includes a dual redundant power supply and meets the IEC 60945 standard. It also has DNV-GL, ABS, and RMRS type approvals and meets NORSOK standards, ensuring high performance and compliance.
Batteryless Telephone:
The VSP Batteryless Telephone System provides reliable emergency communication independent of a vessel’s power supply, ensuring vital communication between key onboard positions. All marine environments can benefit from the system’s wide range of lightweight, sturdy, and corrosion-resistant stations, which are designed for durability and versatility. Stations can be mounted on panels, desktops, or walls, adapting to various installation needs. Excellent speech quality, noise-compensated microphones, and built-in or separate relays for operating signal units are the key features of the system. It also offers a 24 VDC output for connecting external equipment and supports headset use, either directly through the station or via a plug box.
Hospital & Refrigerator Alarm System:
The ITCS Hospital and Refrigerator Alarm System is specifically built for marine vessels, facilitating reliable calls from the hospital and refrigerated rooms. It provides different call options, such as refrigerator only, hospital only, or both. In addition to several peripheral units like ITCS-C1, ITCS-C2, ITCS-C3, and ITCS-C4, the system is run by control units ITC-1A (single) and ITC-2A (double). For efficient call acceptance, it can be fully equipped with a repeater (ITCS-R) and a signaling unit (ITCS-S). The SCAS-1 Bridge Unit features indication lamps for power availability, hospital alarm, and refrigeration alarm; a buzzer; a push button to mute sound; and connections for extra signaling devices. The SCAS-2 Galley Passageway Unit shares similar features, in addition to offering weatherproof and bulkhead-mounting capabilities. The SCAS-3 Hospital Unit includes two alarm-activating bed switches and an alarm reset button. In addition, the SCAS-4 Refrigerator Unit has power and refrigeration alarm indicators, an on/off button, and provisions for additional signaling and refrigeration units.
CIS Talk-Back System:
CIS Talk-Back System featuring a compact design and enhanced performance with the use of microprocessor techniques, the CIS 3100 integrates master stations (type P-3100 (5 lines), type P-3101 (10 lines), and type P-3102 (20 lines), along with several 9000 series substations. The features include bridge wings extension, all-call audio input, integrated loudspeaker and integrated separate microphone, all-call facility, connection for gooseneck or handheld microphone, and connection for an extra loudspeaker.
SPA PA GA System:
SPA PA GA System, a cost-effective and versatile maritime public address (PA) and general alarm (GA) system, the SPA-V2 system is designed especially to satisfy the requirements of various types of vessels. It is available in multiple configurations, and each SPA rack supports power outputs ranging from 120W to 2800W and is available in sizes of 12 HU, 16 HU, 20 HU, and 24 HU. As an integrated and approved PA/GA solution, it is especially efficient when paired with SPA loudspeaker loops and integrated ACM units to cover essential onboard areas. Key components include central equipment, access panels, loudspeakers, beacons, signal units, volume controllers, and other accessories. The SPA-V2 offers a 19” rack with screw terminals for ship cable networks, power amplifiers with 100V line output, amplifier monitoring, inputs for microphones, AUX, alarms, talk-back systems, and PABX. With built-in pre-amplifiers and compatibility with VINGTOR ACM XE systems, the SPA-V2 delivers a reliable and comprehensive onboard communication and alarm solution.
